WhatsApp chief concerned over Apple issue

A few days ago, Apple hit the business structure of Facebook by bringing a new iOS update. New software to detect whether the user's iCloud photo contains a picture of child abuse. Will Cathcart, head of Facebook-owned WhatsApp, has expressed "concern" about Apple's plans for a new software update. In a tweet, Cathcart commented, "It's a surveillance process created and operated by Apple that can easily be used to scan any personal content that they or the government wants to control." He also questioned how China or other countries would exploit such a process and how spyware companies would abuse it. The US technology giant, however, did not agree with Cathcart's explanation. According to Apple, the process has only been trained to work on the "familiar" image database provided by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) and other organizations. Adding the process to iOS will not allow it to work in a regionally specific way. And users can disable iCloud Photos if they want. Tags: AppleWhatsApp
